Jeff is a fourth generation Steamboat Springs resident. Jeff's father Jim Temple founded the Steamboat Springs ski area in 1959.
Jeff was a competitive ski racer in his youth, an NCAA All American and team captain for the University of Colorado Ski Team, and a four time member of the NCAA Championship C.U. Ski Team. Jeff then raced on the World Pro Tour for four years and won the Coors Pro Tour Cup in 1970. He spent summers on the family ranch 50 miles north or Steamboat—the Focus Ranch. This inspired his vision to create beautiful working ranch communities in the West where people would be proud to raise their families.
Jeff Temple was a co-founder of Spyder Skiwear in 1977 and ran the company as Vice President General Manager and board member from 1977-1993. At Spyder he grew the company dramatically and set up international sales and distribution in Germany, Austria, England, France, Sweden, Norway and Japan.
In 1994, he hand-selected the development team, secured financing, built and sold Water Dance, an award winning, 33 acre neighborhood of 93 residences on Lake Dillon, CO. In 1995, he was named "Builder of the Year" by the Summit County Builders Association. In 1996 he served on the board of directors of the Colorado Builders Association.
It was in 1998, that Jeff and his brother Jamie founded Storm Mountain Development, Ltd. Together they created the exclusive 1,063 acre ranch preservation community, Storm Mountain Ranch in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. In 1998 construction commenced and in the same year Storm Mountain Ranch received the "Smart Growth" Award from Governor Romer.
Jeff partnered with Russ and Jeannie Maytag and founded Maytag Mountain Ranch in Hillside, Colorado, in 2003. This 2,953 acre ranch preservation community is located in the majestic Wet Mountain Valley and is a working cattle ranch without the work, and is a model for green agriculture.
Today, Jeff and Due West Land have joined forces with North Point Real Estate of Savannah, GA to build a new, high end, ranch preservation community in his home town of Steamboat Springs, CO. Marabou is an improved extension of the Storm Mountain Ranch philosophy, with active haying and cattle operations, luxurious homeowner amenities, full time ranch staff and 62 premier home sites. Marabou will be the finest ranch preservation community in the American West. Sales are brisk, as of January 15, 2007 15 homesteads have sold.
